Love it! I think I would piece and make a bib &/or burp cloth for my new niece! It is nice to have something beautiful to look at while you are doing something so simple and everyday, like burping the baby after a feeding!
I would make something for my 4yo! Heather Ross illustrated one of her favourite books, Crafty Chloe, and she LOVES mermaids. (Plus, her birthday is in June, so making her things is on my mind!) 🙂
I love them sea creatures! I’d make some sweet bags. But I wouldn’t use the mermaids. I think they are the devil and I might set em on fire. If I win, you should keep those if you don’t want to listen to tiny mermaid screams!

Well I’d stand a better chance if it were random! :p I bought a small bundle of pieces from the fuchsia color line last year, and have been saving it for something special (as if anybody would use Mendocino for anything non special…). If I won this I’d make a glorious pillow for myself from one of the designs I have pinned on pinterest, and I’d use the bits left for some scrappy pouches for a couple of lovely young ladies I know!
I think that if I were lucky enough to win these, I’d fussy cut them for the centers of a wonky star. So beautiful!

I would so love to win this! I’ve been trying to get some of the mermaid fabric for a while, but to no avail. I totally missed out on Mendocino as I only started quilting a few years ago and now it’s become impossible to find. I’ll gladly take Lily’s share of the mermaid fabric if she wins, and the fishy fabric, too! Better yet, why don’t I take all of it. I don’t think she can sew straight after all the tequila. ; ) I would make some fabric baskets to collect my fabric scraps on my cutting table. Then I could listen to the mermaids’ sweet siren songs all day long and sew whatever they told me to. I promise I won’t set them on fire.
With some coordinating prints & solids from my stash, I’d make a camera strap & a fussy cut some for a baby quilt and probably a sweet kindle cover for myself! Woot!
My five year old is learning to sew. We’d use it to make a doll quilt together.

These are so very nice! My friend took pity on me not too long ago and gave me two very small pieces of the seahorse fabric. I’m not sure what exactly I would make, but it would definitely be for myself! I’d probably go with a pouch of some sort…. boring, but it would make me smile every time I used it 🙂

OMGee!! You are too generous! I would love to tell you that I would make something fabulous but it might be awhile. First i would spend hours looking at it and petting these gorgeous fabrics! Then I would find one of those glass fire extinguisher holders to place them in safely. Have to make sure it has one of those little hammers to break the glass and writing that says to only break in an emergency. I would probably put an actually fire extinguisher in there to and if a fire emergency happen I would be sure to stuff these pretties in my bra first then grab the extinguisher. I know my priorities are all messed up but I do not own any Heather Ross fabric. I caught the sewing bug about a year ago. 🙂 all silliness aside I would probably make a churn dash with these in the center with some low volume prints (like Bonnie) and it would be my precious! I would use most of the lengths to make an 18″ pillow, which would stay on only my couch, and no one else would be allowed to touch it LOL, and I’d use the rest to make EPP hexies to applique on a zippered pouch that I would also not share and not allow anyone else to go near! Oh wow. Gorgeous. I’ve never used designer fabric before, actually, so I think I’d use them to make something (maybe in a quilt?) for my 6 month old son- we are taking him to the beach for the first time next month, so the print theme is perfect, and he LOVES reds, pinks, and oranges! He would probably just stare at and pet this fabric. Then try to eat it.

I LOVE YOU! I only saw this fabric for the first time in my life yesterday on one of the lovely giveaway ladies blogs, but she wasn’t giving it away, just showing one of her cushions made up in this fabric. I IMMEDIATELY googled the fabric and wanted it desperately.
You see, the truth is, I have always wanted to be a mermaid!!!!
Whenever people ask “If you could be an animal, what animal would you be?” I always said a mermaid.
When I was a girl, my sister and I used to tie our ankles together with ribbon in the local swimming pool and pretend to be mermaids diving for food and treasure, and escaping our brother the shark! We didn’t care what all the cool kids thought, we wanted to be mermaids. Even as a woman, aged over 30, I still use a Disney Ariel character beach towel!
Please Please please let me turn this fabric into the front panel of a blouse, a headband and a removable peter pan collar.

I paper pieced for the first time just a couple of weeks ago (pincushion) and LOVED it. I’ve been a fan of Heather Ross since I first saw her fabrics just a year or so ago. I think I’d cut them into 3″ squares and then add a tish of white or maybe pale blue and wonky them up a bit and turn them into a wee baby quilt top. 13 per wof strip, that’s 117 3″ squares! ooh maybe offset them so it looks like it’s raining heather ross squares… little negative space in there. yes. yes, i think that is what i would do!

I have some charm-square sized scraps of Mendocino, just a bit. I’ve had this idea to combine them with some Full Moon Lagoon and some Kona Cerise to make a triangle mini — actually, two minis — I have two daughters, ages 7 and 5, who each just got an American Girl doll. I want to make little bed quilts for them! But my current layout looks funny with too much Lagoon and not enough Mendocino. So I’ve been on the hunt for a little more Mendocino…!

I’d make placemats, with a bright linen (orange would look lovely in my kitchen) on one side and a flax linen on the other — with these beautiful prints highlighted on both sides. Then I’d forbid my messy children from using them until they turn 17.
ohh how I love this fabric, and have been drooling over it for so long. I an envision a few things i would do with these lovelies, 1. a border around a tunic dress for one of my girls, 2. a boarder around a sweet little clutch purse, or ipad cover. 3. hang them u on my happy board and just stare with glazed eye enjoyment.

I have been wanting the mermaid fabric ever since it first came out. I couldn’t afford it then, and of course can’t afford it now either. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve drooled over scraps on Etsy! I would be so honored to win this.
I have two little girls who are both so intrigued by mermaids. My older daughter had a ‘mermaid’ fourth birthday party last year! I was born in Savannah, Georgia, so the sea has a special place in my memory and my aesthetic as an artist.
I’d spend a good long time staring at these strips; i wouldn’t just make any old thing just for the sake of doing so. No, I’d let the idea rise – magically organic, like a mermaid coming to the surface to find out Rain.
On our scratched walnut tabletop, the fabric would pool in blush-colored waves.we live in the desert where the closest thing to sea is sunset – & the sun would toss its rays onto the fabric, lighting the room with dreams. i’d let ideas sift like glittering sand down to the deepest of dreams, until – casting out – rising on another wave, just the right thing would surface.

Lovely fabric! I would like to use this for a quilt for a friends daughter, who is in love with mermaids!!!
Oh they are absolutely lovely and since they don’t work wiht anything in my home, I have to be honest and say I’d use them to create nifty zippered pouches. Then, those pouches would be giveaway prizes on my Instagram Sweatnsew challenges (generally a 2 week perioed ea. months where folks hashtag sweatnsew as an entry a day with their workout or heatlhy eating choice that day). It’s helped us all start and make better and healthier choices. So… long winded but since I know so many people love these prints, I’d share them that way. They are simply too pretty to keep to myself (but admittedly, I might cut a square and use it for my own zip pouch).
I would LOVE to get my mitts on Mendocino! I would like to say I would make something for someone else, but I would have to keep those. I’d like to quilt those into panels and make my own Weekender bag, or maybe one of the Sew Sweetness bags…
My first quilt was a Far Far Away 2 themed one for my daughter in a Kate Conklin pattern. Im making a rainblow quilt now, Crazy blocks with scraps from that first quilt. And I would use these strips in it. Definitely!

Wow, these are stunning prints. If I won them I would make a quilt. I can picture a centrepiece featuring a nice plain piece of fabric on which I’d applique a giant orange octopus, surrounded by hand quilted fish and sea horses. To frame it I’d create a multitude of nine batch blocks from the fabric strips, and team those up with some sashing in yellow.
I would use them to make patchwork skirts for my little grand daughters!

Double the pleasure double the fun. I would cut each piece in half (3 x 22) and buy some additional fabrics. I would give half to my mom and half for me and then challenge her to make something that would use all of the fabric from the strips and as much of the other as needed. I love to challenge her with bundles of fabrics and she has started doing the same back to me.
So pretty! I would mix them with some solids to make a baby quilt.
I saw a cute patchwork wristlet the other day that these fabrics would work for. OR I am actually moving and thinking of doing a beachy/ocean theme for my kitchen. These would make some cute potholders and/or kitchen towels, and I would get to make my kitchen decor with a more girly take instead of the traditional blues and greens I was looking at.
I have a niece who was a mermaid for Halloween. I would love to surprise her with a large pillow for her birthday.

Aaaah! I own very little Heather Ross. I would personally stash them until I have a little girl of my own (which is coming within the next few years hopefully!) and make her the cutest mermaid wall quilt!
I am obsessed with Heather Ross. I have been really wanting new throw pillows for our sofa. I think I would bring some of this together with some neutral linen to make star throw pillows for our living room, maybe some fun paper piecing (or a Dresden?). All I can say is, if these came to live with me, I’d show these precious bits of fabric their proper respect. They would enjoy a front and center display in some adorable container where I could gaze on their prettiness until I felt sure about cutting into them for their final quilty destination. Love it! Would make a basket/bucket to hold either yarn or some other item to be determined. Not sure if it would be stripe/patchwork or potentially woven strips. Love it though.
Ok what’s the catch? Why give away this glorious range of fabric? Is there something wrong with it? If I won, I would put on a hazmat suit, handle it with a pair of tongs, and mount it in a large gilded frame. So that I could SAFELY enjoy it. Then after 3 years of looking at it on the wall, I would bravely approach it with a rotary cutter and make the stinkin cutest quilt you’ve ever seen.
Honestly? I’d be thrilled to win, but would spend months on Pinterest trying to identify the perfect way to make this beautiful fabric reach its full potential. Oh boy, this is the one fabric line that I REALLY wish I hadn’t missed out on. I got into designer fabric shortly after this fabric became basically unavailable (unless you have a lot more disposable income than me!). I am a beachy girl and I love that Heather’s mermaids are sweet without looking like they need to be used for a little girl.
What would I do with them? Probably fondle and drool a lot … maybe even carry them in my purse when I run errands so that I can show them off to the cashiers and other shoppers. I would definitely have to instagram a picture of me with them at the beach (too much???).
After all of that, I’d need to make the fabric into something special that would last awhile and give me the chance to enjoy them every day, so I think I would make a quilted pillow sham for our bed.

I am in fact just about to start on a Heather Ross mermaid quilt, and these would be perfect to add to it. It will have a seaside sunset pallette, with oranges at the top of the quilt, and blues toward the bottom. I can’t wait to start on it!

I LOVE this fabric. I like how its an ocean theme but not the usual shades of blue. I love Heather Ross’ Mendocino line – and like many, don’t have enough (any) in my life. I have been sitting here for a couple of minutes (ok, for a couple of days) trying to think of the perfect project to make with these. The thing is, every time I look at this fabric, I smile. So I would take that love and sprinkle it throughout my sewing. I would sew a square into anything and everything I’m working on right now (because who only has one project going, right?!) From the new shorts for my daughter, a shirt for my son, a bag for myself, cushion cases, gifts, even the quilt I’m in the middle of that was passed down from my husband’s grandmother, 1 little square in each of these, giving me one more reason to smile. Oh! A doll quilt for my daughter, Lorelai! Her name is German– it is from a tale about a mermaid that had a voice so beautiful that she would sing sailors to their death on the rocky cliffs. We love to shower her with mermaid-themed things. She is only one now but I am sure she will appreciate it as she grows older.

First, I would roll around naked in them…then I would hide them so Lily and Mama Spark can’t get their hands on the innocent mermaids. Then I would lock them away in my fabric stash until they make enough friends that I can turn them all into a big cuddly quilt.

Well, as they are nautical in nature, I’d sew two together to make a nice long tube, add some elastic, and *bam* there’s an attractive headband befitting a beautiful lady pirate. As there are 9 strips, and headbands need 2 strips apiece, that means I can captain a crew of 3 other ladies, and one tiny Pirate-in-training. The headpieces would announce our majesty, keep our lovely locks in place and out of our face as we take over the world (fashion industry), and strike fear into the hearts of our enemies. (My enemies would probably invoke all the fashions I dislike, including UGG boots, fabric poncho shirts, and wearing white after Labor Day! But hey, everyone needs an archenemy) I eagerly await our festive shanty sing-a-long nights. Rather than the overdone “Arr!”, it’ll be “oor” for “orange”, the color of our useful and beautiful headgear.
Okay, so obviously not. I’d probably make two zipper pouches, using a patchwork style for the outside. I have a friend who is a fan of tiny pink octopi, so hers would definitely have that large fellow in the upper middle 🙂

There is the great tutorial on how to cut wedges of fabric and form them on another piece of fabric into an initial (I have already helped a friend make one and I am dying to make one for myself). I would layer these horizontally and make a lined, quilted book bag so I could admire all the fabrics at once. I would make a long messenger style strap. I’d fill it with my favorite few books read this year, then take it over ot my mother who cannot get out much, loves to read, and has limited mobility in her upper body so the messenger strap would fit her comfortably. 🙂

I am making quilted V shaped pillows for my daughters who have both left home and moved to London away from their home by the sea. They are sort of memory/story patchworks of things that make them the way they are. Admittedly , the coast where we live is a bit wild ,but there is the occasional sunny day when mermaids might play
Easy peasy! Firstly I would continue fawning over the pictures you’ve posted. Then after arriving I would stroke it whilst talking to it. i would iron it neatly (because i do like my fabric to be looked after). I would then hoard them for a little bit whilst i tried to add to them with maybe a few more scraps and some essex linen in complementary colours. Then finally I would start on a quilt that was only for me. My children have plenty, but i’ve not made one for me or DH yet. I started quilting after the Mendocino rush and not managed to get hold of any yet, but i have my fingers crossed!
I would like to make quilt-placemates with them. Perfect for when we’re eating fish 😉

I would make little quilts for the faeries who live in my garden. Faeries and mermaids are cousins you know, but they can only visit each other on a blue moon because that is the one night mermaids grow legs. Faeries can’t swim on account of their wings so they don’t go to the sea on other nights. On the night of a blue moon though the faeries and their cousins the mermaids have a beach party and dance around a fire, until dawn. When I make them little quilts though the faeries would not be so sad about only seeing their cousins the mermaids once in a blue moon because they would be reminded of them each night as they went to sleep.

I caught my breath when I saw this on the SMS giveaway. The Heather Ross Mendocino fabric line is almost an urban legend in New Zealand, with many whispers concerning its existence, but very few have actually seen it. I wonder if it would gain traction if I pieced it together and started a petition for it to become our new national flag, because you know, sewing is our national past-time, up there with being extras on The Hobbit. Oh, gosh. I want these fabrics BAD. I’ve never had any of them — and only one small scrap of Mendocino at all — but how to tickle your fancy at 1:00 am my time? My brain may not be able to work that hard. This is going to be tough. How about this: I think I would make one entire quilt (at least baby size) out of the nine strips? Ok, wait, I’ve got to walk this back just a bit: If you pick me, could I use a few different solids and maybe could I make it wall size so I could keep it (on account I have three boys)? The rest of the strips would make a lovely strip work cushion to go with her eye spy quilt (she may get the cushion long before the eye spy quilt at the rate I am collecting eye spy squares) perhaps I can give the eye spy quilt to a grand child – my daughter is 2 1/2 do you think that would give me enough time ? 🙂

First, i need those prints to put in my ticker tape- ispy quilt blocks! What fun it would be to have a mermaid, an octopus and some fish! After that, i just know i would use the rest of them to make a pillow cover for my living room. Those are the perfect warm colors and id love looking at it all the time!

I have the most adorable three year old granddaughter in the whole world and I would use the gorgeous fabric to make a quilt for her special dolly that she keeps in a cradle at our house. I would make a small baby quilt with the precious stash of my own mixed with these treasures.
I would probably leave them that width and change only the length and then sew a solid in between and to the ends so as to make a lap sized quilt. They would certainly shine!!

Oh my goodness!!! I have answered about 20 million giveaway questions this week with the answer of Mendocino when asked my favorite line ever. This just made me smile to see it. I’ve used my mendocino stash in a quilt for my daughter, goodie bags for her friends at a bday party, bee blocks, etc. Wherever I think people need a smile. For this prize–I’d mix in whatever I’ve got left and some pretty solids and make something special for me!

The obvious choice would be a strip quilt, but I am wondering if once sewn together, would I have enough to make myself a Summer top? it would look amazing! maybe a pendrell or just a collette sorbetto lined with a very thin cotton to seal in the raw edges? Otherwise I would use them to make Noodleheads new bag pattern

I love these fabrics. I missed them when they came out so I would make something very special just for me. I think a large pillow for my bed would show them off nicely.
Ahhh! The pressure!! If I won, they’d for sure be made into a mini to hang in my sewing room. I don’t have such a thing now because all the mini’s end up in the playroom…this one would not. It would hang right where I could see it but out of direct sunlight and it would be pet. Oh yes, it would be pet.
