**now closed** giveaway day!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK TIME TO PLAY!!! I had SOOOO much fun reading through all the comments this week!  It was endless entertainment! Love it.  So, to decide who won, I read each comment aloud during my dinner outing at the Cracker Barrel and we all discussed their awesome-itude and laughed and ate too many dumplins. In the end, we have a winner and it’s Leanne from My Year of Crafting Dangerously!  Here’s her comment:

I caught my breath when I saw this on the SMS giveaway. The Heather Ross Mendocino fabric line is almost an urban legend in New Zealand, with many whispers concerning its existence, but very few have actually seen it. I wonder if it would gain traction if I pieced it together and started a petition for it to become our new national flag, because you know, sewing is our national past-time, up there with being extras on The Hobbit. And these fabrics really would be my preciousss. Thanks for the chance to win them.
This woman wants to start a grassroots political movement with my fabric strips, people!! And she was a hobbit!!! Good lord, I can’t give her this fabric fast enough.  Congratulations, Leanne!! I’ve emailed you for your shipping info already.  Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Kim says:

I love Heather Ross! I’d use those fabrics to make a wall hanging for a friend, who is also a huge fan of Heather. Thanks for the chance to win!

  2. Emilee says:

Love it! I think I would piece and make a bib &/or burp cloth for my new niece! It is nice to have something beautiful to look at while you are doing something so simple and everyday, like burping the baby after a feeding!

  3. I would make something for my 4yo! Heather Ross illustrated one of her favourite books, Crafty Chloe, and she LOVES mermaids. (Plus, her birthday is in June, so making her things is on my mind!) 🙂

  4. I love them sea creatures! I’d make some sweet bags. But I wouldn’t use the mermaids. I think they are the devil and I might set em on fire. If I win, you should keep those if you don’t want to listen to tiny mermaid screams!

  5. Kat says:

Lovely! I bet with some solids to stretch them I could make a whole quilt from those strips. Maybe something with a woven look? Thanks for the chance!

  6. Jessica F says:

I’d make an adventure-themed pillow for my kid’s room

  7. katrina h says:

i would make a lovely patchwork belt with these strips! then i could wear it and love it up more than in a quilt! xxoo

  8. Tina C. says:

I’d either use this fabric for a stripe or charm quilt or as trim for little dresses for my niece!

  9. wow, those fabrics are lovely. I would make a pillow for my couch.

  10. Alizabeth Dively says:

I have been planning to decorate my bathroom in octupus and mermaid. I would frame them for display.

  11. I want to make hexes with them to make a modern quilt or pillow. I would be making this for myself, for once!

  12. Mama Spark says:

I agree, Lily should put the tequilia down!! If she wins just send those mermaids right on over to my house! I have been trying to collect these prints for some time. Both of my girls used to pretend they were mermaids by tipping their heads upside down while in the water and then whipping their hair back as they bounced out of the water! haha. I would make a quilt for one of my real life mermaids. Thank you for your generosity!

  13. Monica says:

I think I’d use them to make a pillow for my bedroom…something very simple that kept the strips as uncut as possible.

  14. Glenys says:

Heather Ross is my favourite fabric designer! I’ll make pouches and bows with them 😀

  15. Lori Mahar says:

They would make some lovely granny square blocks!

  16. tsoniki says:

I think I would use some to make panels for a bag, and whatever left over to make hexagons and put those on a smaller bag like a zipper pouch. Great giveaway!

  17. I’m thinking maybe a beach tote.

  18. Sarah says:

wall hanging for my vintage from scren porch..LOVE this fabric!

  19. runandsewquilts says:

I have never had any Heather Ross fabric, so I’d have to look at it for a while, but perhaps a pillow for my daughter and son-in-law. They just redid their living room and have a huge aquarium.

  20. Kellie says:

I love HR! Would I have to use it? I could just add it to the ‘for looking at and occasionally stroking’ stash lol 🙂 if I had too I would make a cushion, or quilt maybe?

  21. Karen says:

Totally a wall hanging…for my bathroom ;). I have a plan and these fabrics would be perfect! Thanks for the chance!

  22. quiltfairy33 says:

I would make a pillowcase for my granddaughter with these prints. Except for the mermaid fabric, which I dare Lily to burn.

  23. Yvonne says:

Love Heather Ross fabrics and these could be the start of a great quilt. Thanks!

  24. Phoebe says:

I would make a baby quilt

  25. Sash says:

Those fabrics are delicious and would be perfect for a fussy cut quilt I’m planning for my girl!

  26. Wendy says:

Would combine them with my other HR fabric for a quilt!

  27. Stacy Hadwin says:

I would make a wall hanging for my sewing room. Love mermaids!

  28. Ali M says:

Well I’d stand a better chance if it were random! :p I bought a small bundle of pieces from the fuchsia color line last year, and have been saving it for something special (as if anybody would use Mendocino for anything non special…). If I won this I’d make a glorious pillow for myself from one of the designs I have pinned on pinterest, and I’d use the bits left for some scrappy pouches for a couple of lovely young ladies I know!

  29. Jill says:

I think that if I were lucky enough to win these, I’d fussy cut them for the centers of a wonky star. So beautiful!

    Thanks for the chance!

  30. Catrin Lewis says:

ummmm. I’d look at them. Stroke them….. I might even cut them but I’d have to think long and hard about that!

  31. Stephanie A says:

I’d make a mini quilt or fabric basket 🙂

  32. Gina says:

Gorgeousness, i love those colors!!!I would use those strips to make a giant floor pillow for my daughter’s room. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!!

  33. Bec says:

I can’t believe you are so generous to give these away

  34. VeronicaMade says:

I would so love to win this! I’ve been trying to get some of the mermaid fabric for a while, but to no avail. I totally missed out on Mendocino as I only started quilting a few years ago and now it’s become impossible to find. I’ll gladly take Lily’s share of the mermaid fabric if she wins, and the fishy fabric, too! Better yet, why don’t I take all of it. I don’t think she can sew straight after all the tequila. ; ) I would make some fabric baskets to collect my fabric scraps on my cutting table. Then I could listen to the mermaids’ sweet siren songs all day long and sew whatever they told me to. I promise I won’t set them on fire.

  35. With some coordinating prints & solids from my stash, I’d make a camera strap & a fussy cut some for a baby quilt and probably a sweet kindle cover for myself! Woot!

  36. ruthsplace says:

My five year old is learning to sew. We’d use it to make a doll quilt together.

  37. Sara says:

I would make a girl quilt for my niece coming in June!

  38. Jessy says:

Wow! You are so brave giving up your Heather Ross! At first I thought table runner, but then I thought for sure I would make a little wall hanging for a friends new baby girl. Thanks for such a great giveaway!

  39. I may just love them and pet them and call them George… err I mean display them in a pretty mini quilt!

    Fab giveway – thank you!

  40. Sally says:

These are so very nice! My friend took pity on me not too long ago and gave me two very small pieces of the seahorse fabric. I’m not sure what exactly I would make, but it would definitely be for myself! I’d probably go with a pouch of some sort…. boring, but it would make me smile every time I used it 🙂

  41. katie says:

I would use them for a ruffle skirt for my daughter. Great fabrics!

  42. Heather B says:

OMGee!! You are too generous! I would love to tell you that I would make something fabulous but it might be awhile. First i would spend hours looking at it and petting these gorgeous fabrics! Then I would find one of those glass fire extinguisher holders to place them in safely. Have to make sure it has one of those little hammers to break the glass and writing that says to only break in an emergency. I would probably put an actually fire extinguisher in there to and if a fire emergency happen I would be sure to stuff these pretties in my bra first then grab the extinguisher. I know my priorities are all messed up but I do not own any Heather Ross fabric. I caught the sewing bug about a year ago. 🙂 all silliness aside I would probably make a churn dash with these in the center with some low volume prints (like Bonnie) and it would be my precious! Thanks for the grey giveaway!!!
    mrs(dot)hbraun(at)gmail(dot)com

winning these fabrics would be a dream coming true!
I have a lot of Heather Ross (to pet, not to use),

    Tina

  54. Andrea says:

    I would make a pillow!

  55. Shann says:

Im on a dressing my baby boy in pink kick!! he totally rocks it !

(we are going to reclaim pink’s standing as a Victorian era masculine color, not cause he has a big sister with hand me downs. wink wink)
in that spirit, he would look RADICAL in a blush and orange colored mendicino bucket-sunhat this beach season…In fact, as I write this, I cant get the image out of my head! I think he’s gonna have a pastel sunhat either way!

    Thank much!

  56. Holli says:

We have a mermaid in our “bar” area and I’ve so been wishing to get my hands on some mermaid fabric to make a mini quilt upon which I could set a couple of martini or margarita glasses. Thanks for the giveaway!

  57. Lia says:

I would make a cushion, for myself, that the kids and hubby would have to pay to look at, and will never be allowed to touch! Thanks for the awesome chance xxx

  61. Amy says:

I’ll probably make a patchwork tote with a nine patch design at the front! Thanks for the chance to win!

  62. jennifer says:

I live in Hawaii, these are destined to be an amazing wall hanging for my apartment!! I have the perfect blues for the water!

  63. I’m kicking myself for not buying this line when it was available. I’ve made due with bits and pieces shared from kind crafters. We love to go places which almost always involves water since my husband kitesurfs. I’d love to make a cover for our road atlas… Guided by Heather Ross can’t be a bad thing, right? Thank you for hosting a giveaway and happy crafting from amy at badskirt.

  64. I would use most of the lengths to make an 18″ pillow, which would stay on only my couch, and no one else would be allowed to touch it LOL, and I’d use the rest to make EPP hexies to applique on a zippered pouch that I would also not share and not allow anyone else to go near! Can you tell I would be appreciative and protective? 😀

  65. I’d make a nice lap quilt, thanks for the chance!

  66. Mary Anne says:

I, being the self-less and caring individual that I am, would give these lovelies to Dr. Kornea who would no doubt squeal with delight and refrain from burning the Mermaids!

  67. leaveittocleaver says:

Whoah. You’re actually giving this away. Amazing.
A friend of mine is having her first baby this year. I would work these into a baby quilt for her.

  68. leaveittocleaver says:

I’m not sure if my post worked, so I’ll try it again. Worth a potential double post to get my hands on this fabric.
I would work them into a baby quilt. A friend of mine is having her first baby in the fall and I think it would make a great gift.

  70. Katrin says:

My niece will move into her “big girl” bedroom this summer and this fabric would make an awesome quilt, matching the mermaid doll I made her for christmas. Thanks for sharing your treasure!

  71. Ashley Oh says:

Oh wow. Gorgeous. I’ve never used designer fabric before, actually, so I think I’d use them to make something (maybe in a quilt?) for my 6 month old son- we are taking him to the beach for the first time next month, so the print theme is perfect, and he LOVES reds, pinks, and oranges! He would probably just stare at and pet this fabric. Then try to eat it.

  72. pennydog says:

I have a plan for a quilt with goldfish bowl shapes and the fishy one in particular would be PERFECT for one of the bowls

  73. Deborah Gunthorpe says:

I would love to make an I spy quilt with them for my niece, who will only accept anything that is pink!

  74. Hmm, these would look beautiful in a woven-look pattern for a baby quilt or fabric basket… or bag if I get brave!

  75. Oh wow! How generous! They are just so warm and whimsical! I would have to use them in a bed quilt for my 4 yr old son, because he’s sitting on my lap, asking for them! I haven’t ventured into big bed quilts for my family yet, but I’m determined that this is the year!

  76. Siobhan says:

Oooh, sweet! I’m getting ready to start Sarah Fielke’s Whirligig and I’d love to fussy cut some of the patterns for the leaves and scallops in the border. Then use the rest in another quilt.

  77. Lisa Marie says:

My 9yo niece wants to learn to sew and I plan to teach her this summer. She loves all things girly and pink and orange. She would be thrilled to use those cute fabrics for a first project!

  78. Adri H. says:

These strips are really wonderful! I think they’d be perfect for a handbag or lap quilt.

  79. Gorgeous! I’d make stars for a little girl’s quilt I’m planning to make anyway.

  80. Nessa says:

I LOVE YOU! I only saw this fabric for the first time in my life yesterday on one of the lovely giveaway ladies blogs, but she wasn’t giving it away, just showing one of her cushions made up in this fabric. I IMMEDIATELY googled the fabric and wanted it desperately.
You see, the truth is, I have always wanted to be a mermaid!!!!
Whenever people ask “If you could be an animal, what animal would you be?” I always said a mermaid.
When I was a girl, my sister and I used to tie our ankles together with ribbon in the local swimming pool and pretend to be mermaids diving for food and treasure, and escaping our brother the shark! We didn’t care what all the cool kids thought, we wanted to be mermaids. Even as a woman, aged over 30, I still use a Disney Ariel character beach towel!
Please Please please let me turn this fabric into the front panel of a blouse, a headband and a removable peter pan collar.
    xx

  81. Beulah @ Sowing Stitches says:

Okay…here goes…….in highschool I had a chocolate brown calico bikini bathing suit. I’m thinking…While my bikini days are over after 2 children …these fabrics will make an adorable patchwork bathing suit for my daughter! 🙂

  82. Abby says:

I’d make a lap quilt for a girl I know who is having a rough pregnancy and could use something to snuggle under while she feels like crap and then she might even share it with her new bub when it arrives. Thanks

  83. I’ll be honest…I’m not sure I could use them–I’d be too afraid of messing them up! I may just have to sit and pet them and look at them. They have been on my wish list for quite some time and I would love to have them!!!

  84. Terry says:

I paper pieced for the first time just a couple of weeks ago (pincushion) and LOVED it. I’ve been a fan of Heather Ross since I first saw her fabrics just a year or so ago. With that said, I would absolutely fussy cut some of those lovely scenes and probably use the rest in journal covers. What a great giveaway!

  85. Szamóca says:

My five-year-old wants to have for her mouse (a plush one, not a real) which she got at her birth and carries around everythere since then, a blanket, a pillow and a small bag. This fabric would be just the right one.

  89. Jess says:

I have a small collection of Mendocino – this might give me enough for a small quilt. Awesome prize!

  95. Debbie says:

Beautiful! These would definitely go into a quilted item of some sort!

  96. JLVerde says:

Hmm, is that enough fabric to wrap myself up (mummy style)? I doubt anyone would want to see that!! Guess I’ll just have to ration it out by cutting some 2.5 inch squares and adding it to my postage stamp quilt (and maybe. . .MAYBE. . .sharing some with the folks I trade fabric with. . .if they say please.)

  97. Kaylee says:

So pretty! I think I would use them as accents on some zipper pouches. Use something solid color for the rest and really make the Heather Ross the star or the show. Plus, with 9 pieces, I could make a lot of pouches!

  98. Bonnie says:

I met my best friend in marine science classes, so I would make something for her first “big girl” apartment (i.e. her first place without roommates)

  107. Kate says:

Oh these would look great worked into new shams for our guest room, which we’re thinking of painting orange soon. Thanks for hosting!

  108. Julie says:

Oh I love Heather Ross, and in particular Mendocino (but I only have like 2 fat quarters). I also love the town to Mendocino, such a beautiful area, I can see how she could get so much inspiration from the area. I would love to make a new pillow for my couch. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  109. Bree says:

I think I’d cut them into 3″ squares and then add a tish of white or maybe pale blue and wonky them up a bit and turn them into a wee baby quilt top. 13 per wof strip, that’s 117 3″ squares! ooh maybe offset them so it looks like it’s raining heather ross squares… little negative space in there. yes. yes, i think that is what i would do!

  110. Emily C says:

I would use them for a childs quilt or a tote bag.

  112. Marci Girl says:

Well I would pet and love them for a while, and then once that period was over they would be incorporated into a lovely quilt that would be loved for generations to come!

  113. I have some charm-square sized scraps of Mendocino, just a bit. I’ve had this idea to combine them with some Full Moon Lagoon and some Kona Cerise to make a triangle mini — actually, two minis — I have two daughters, ages 7 and 5, who each just got an American Girl doll. I want to make little bed quilts for them! But my current layout looks funny with too much Lagoon and not enough Mendocino. So I’ve been on the hunt for a little more Mendocino…!

  114. olivia says:

LOOOOOOOVE!!!! And I would make a mini quilt to hang on my gross, boring, depressing beige cubicle wall at work. I need something pretty to look at to keep me from office spacing on people.

I know at least 3 little girls who would love to receive things made out of this line…

  116. Amanda says:

    Make a tote!

  117. Kari M says:

Oh my gosh! That seahorse fabric is too cute! I’d probably use these for a summery throw pillow case for the living room sofa!

  118. angiesue2 says:

I’d make placemats, with a bright linen (orange would look lovely in my kitchen) on one side and a flax linen on the other — with these beautiful prints highlighted on both sides. Then I’d forbid my messy children from using them until they turn 17.

  119. j0sgirl says:

ohh how I love this fabric, and have been drooling over it for so long. I an envision a few things i would do with these lovelies, 1. a border around a tunic dress for one of my girls, 2. a boarder around a sweet little clutch purse, or ipad cover. 3. hang them u on my happy board and just stare with glazed eye enjoyment.

  120. Sara says:

it’s such sweet fabric! i think i’d use it in a girly baby quilt.

  121. Pam says:

Oh gosh! How generous are you!! I would make an eye spy quilt and give it to my cute little grandchild!! xoxo

  125. chandra says:

I’d make a skirt for my daughter.
Tickle- Tickle- Tickle ——} your fancy

  126. omeebubu says:

Beautiful fabrics, I would make a beach bag using those! 🙂

  127. Jayme C says:

OMG! I’m not sure I’d WANT to use it!!! It’ll probably become part of my hoarded stash…or I’d add it into a scrappy quilt that I hope to one day make for myself! Thanks for the giveaway!!!

  128. Carla says:

Ohhh, those are pretty. I should like to collect some more of those lovelies and make a quilt!

  129. laurelar says:

I love these! I also agree they would be hard to use, but if I did, maybe a plus or postage stamp quilt.

  130. Erica says:

I’m not sure but it would be something for my four year old daughter. She would love it.

  131. deborah b says:

I have been wanting the mermaid fabric ever since it first came out. I couldn’t afford it then, and of course can’t afford it now either. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve drooled over scraps on Etsy! I would be so honored to win this.

I have two little girls who are both so intrigued by mermaids. My older daughter had a ‘mermaid’ fourth birthday party last year! I was born in Savannah, Georgia, so the sea has a special place in my memory and my aesthetic as an artist.

I’d spend a good long time staring at these strips; i wouldn’t just make any old thing just for the sake of doing so. No, I’d let the idea rise – magically organic, like a mermaid coming to the surface to find out Rain.

On our scratched walnut tabletop, the fabric would pool in blush-colored waves.we live in the desert where the closest thing to sea is sunset – & the sun would toss its rays onto the fabric, lighting the room with dreams. i’d let ideas sift like glittering sand down to the deepest of dreams, until – casting out – rising on another wave, just the right thing would surface.

But, I’d promise to send you photos, when I was done!

Thank you for the chance to win.

    • deborah b says:

Also! I just realized that you are Frybread Quilts. I just had a dream last night – seriously – about frybread. I have been writing down my dreams each morning. I have proof! 🙂

  132. Kathy says:

I LOVE this fabric!!! I would carry it around with me for awhile, and look at it and pet it, and then eventually(if it’s not worn out from being petted) make some hexagons to put on a pillow on my bed. Thank you for sharing your Mendocino!

  133. Bess Bauer says:

I think this would turn into a sweet skirt for one of my girls:)
    Thanks for the giveaway!

Lovely fabric! I would like to use this for a quilt for a friends daughter, who is in love with mermaids!!!

  135. Becky says:

Oh they are absolutely lovely and since they don’t work wiht anything in my home, I have to be honest and say I’d use them to create nifty zippered pouches. Then, those pouches would be giveaway prizes on my Instagram Sweatnsew challenges (generally a 2 week perioed ea. months where folks hashtag sweatnsew as an entry a day with their workout or heatlhy eating choice that day). It’s helped us all start and make better and healthier choices. So… long winded but since I know so many people love these prints, I’d share them that way. They are simply too pretty to keep to myself (but admittedly, I might cut a square and use it for my own zip pouch).

  136. Lauren aka Giddy99 says:

I would LOVE to get my mitts on Mendocino! I would like to say I would make something for someone else, but I would have to keep those. I’d like to quilt those into panels and make my own Weekender bag, or maybe one of the Sew Sweetness bags…

  137. My first quilt was a Far Far Away 2 themed one for my daughter in a Kate Conklin pattern. Im making a rainblow quilt now, Crazy blocks with scraps from that first quilt. And I would use these strips in it. Definitely!

  138. thomasnews says:

way cute! my friend did her little girls room in these colors, I think a cute pillow or a small quilt would look awesome!

  139. Linda says:

HELLO! THESE ARE SO ADORABLE! I DO CHARITY BABY QUILTS+I THINK I’D LOVE TO DO SOME VERY SMALL PINWHEELS AND MAYBE EVEN SOME BLOCKS OF FANCY CUTTING+PIECING TOO! THANKS FOR SHARING!

  140. disneyfam says:

These are so beautiful! We have a 6 month old little girl we have been fostering the last 5 months and Friday we have court and we are hoping she will become available for adoption. I would love to make her a quilt out of these!

  141. Nati says:

They are absolutely gorgeous I think I need to make something for myself that I will use every day…I am thinking a quilted Ipad cover featuring the stripes all around? And if I have some leftover I can make a phone cover to match…

  142. Heather says:

I don’t have any Heather Ross fabric but love those mermaids. With strips I could easily make a very cute sun dress for my daughter!

  143. steph says:

After petting them for quite a long time I’d probably turn them into a tablet cover or something…but only after lots of practice with whatever pattern I use, as I wouldn’t want to risk messing these up!!

    Thanks for the chance!

  144. kristy says:

EEK! I’m currently working on the Concerto quilt pattern by Aria Lane (http://www.arialane.com/products/concerto) with my beloved Mendocino scraps. I’m in need of a few more pieces and am desperate! Hoping swapping on Flickr will be successful if I don’t get uber lucky and win your incredible giveaway with perfect timing!

  145. Paula says:

Wow, these are stunning prints. If I won them I would make a quilt. I can picture a centrepiece featuring a nice plain piece of fabric on which I’d applique a giant orange octopus, surrounded by hand quilted fish and sea horses. To frame it I’d create a multitude of nine batch blocks from the fabric strips, and team those up with some sashing in yellow.

  146. vicki says:

I would use them to make patchwork skirts for my little grand daughters!

  147. Omigosh! You know some readers are peeing their pants when they see that fabric and the word, “giveaway,” don’t you? (Not admitting anything by this statement, by the way.)

I’d make a quilt-as-you-go bag to show off at my quilt guild meetings.

Finally, I’ll add my favorite joke for good measure:

    Knock-knock.
    Who’s there?
    Panther.
    Panther who?
Panther no panth, I’m going thwimming!

  148. montse says:

I would use them fo a quilt for my goddaughter who’s 3 and I’m sure would love those mermaids!
Terrific giveaway, thanks for the chance to win!

  149. Emmers says:

These are really the best! I would use coordinating solids in the same widths and make them into a long skirt, they really should be shown off, right? 🙂

  150. fabricdonkey says:

I would spread the love and make a wall hanging (we’ve been decorating our place) with negative space to make those prints pop, and some would make their way into matching bags for my daughters and I. Thank you for such a generous giveaway!

  151. Heather says:

Double the pleasure double the fun. I would cut each piece in half (3 x 22) and buy some additional fabrics. I would give half to my mom and half for me and then challenge her to make something that would use all of the fabric from the strips and as much of the other as needed. I love to challenge her with bundles of fabrics and she has started doing the same back to me.

  152. So pretty! I would mix them with some solids to make a baby quilt.

  153. Anna L says:

I saw a cute patchwork wristlet the other day that these fabrics would work for. OR I am actually moving and thinking of doing a beachy/ocean theme for my kitchen. These would make some cute potholders and/or kitchen towels, and I would get to make my kitchen decor with a more girly take instead of the traditional blues and greens I was looking at.

  154. Jan says:

I have a niece who was a mermaid for Halloween. I would love to surprise her with a large pillow for her birthday.

  155. Margaret Cureton says:

Ah….well I’ve been collecting Mendocino for some time now, along with some other Heather Ross and so these would get me further along in my Heather Ross quilt:)- thanks for the opportunity to win!

  156. Sara says:

A mini to grace my sewing room of course!

  157. Jenni says:

Truthfully, it’s so pretty it would probably sit for a while until the novelty wears off (if it ever does). I would just stare at it and occasionally rearrange it 🙂

  158. Margaret says:

I’d use some bits in an I-spy quilt for my friend’s baby, and some for some patchworky zipper pouches to give as party favors for my daughter’s birthday party. maybe there would be enough left to make a little something for me. 🙂

  159. Ginger Spitler says:

I think these would make a beautiful apron.

  160. Southern Gal says:

I’ve wanted to try my hand at a quilted handbag. This would definitely make for a different kind of bag. A good conversation piece. Thanks for the chance!

  161. Aaaah! I own very little Heather Ross. I would personally stash them until I have a little girl of my own (which is coming within the next few years hopefully!) and make her the cutest mermaid wall quilt!

  162. Sarah L. says:

I am obsessed with Heather Ross. I have been really wanting new throw pillows for our sofa. I think I would bring some of this together with some neutral linen to make star throw pillows for our living room, maybe some fun paper piecing (or a Dresden?). I would use the leftovers with some of my other Heather Ross, for a little bit of a polaroid mini for me to stare out. Thank you for the giveaway!

  163. Diana says:

I have an adorable pattern for a large bag/purse. I’d definitely use those to make it!

  164. Hueisei says:

I have an idea for a gumdrop quilt. These would be so lovely among my pinks on white background!

I would use them in a little doll quilt for my sweet daughter’s 2nd birthday. Thanks for the chance!

  172. Nicole says:

    I’d make a mini quilt!

  173. dee says:

i have never done any strip piecing and would love to try it. perhaps something small like a table runner would be the starting point. thanks for hte offer.

  174. Valerie says:

Wow, I’m guessing you are popular in SMS giveaway world! (I’m sure elsewhere too 😉 ). This is a most excellent prize!! All I can say is, if these came to live with me, I’d show these precious bits of fabric their proper respect. They would enjoy a front and center display in some adorable container where I could gaze on their prettiness until I felt sure about cutting into them for their final quilty destination. Gah, I don’t mean to lay it on so thick, just trying to say your fabric would receive its rightful due -you’ve got some real treasures here!

  175. Chelsie says:

I would make an adorable Hexie pillow. These fabrics are just begging to be fussy cut hexies 🙂

  176. Oooh… what would I make with this fabric? Honestly, I’d probably choose to make a mini-quilt to go on my wall. I’d probably also fussy cut pieces to frame to go with the mini.

  177. Kristy says:

I’m making a long term EPP project with Heather Ross Fabric and these would go in there.

    More units done

  178. T says:

Love it! Would make a basket/bucket to hold either yarn or some other item to be determined. Not sure if it would be stripe/patchwork or potentially woven strips. Love it though.

  179. Melanie Sim says:

Ok what’s the catch? Why give away this glorious range of fabric? Is there something wrong with it? If I won, I would put on a hazmat suit, handle it with a pair of tongs, and mount it in a large gilded frame. So that I could SAFELY enjoy it. Then after 3 years of looking at it on the wall, I would bravely approach it with a rotary cutter and make the stinkin cutest quilt you’ve ever seen.

Honestly? I’d be thrilled to win, but would spend months on Pinterest trying to identify the perfect way to make this beautiful fabric reach its full potential. I don’t know yet, but I’ll treat it nice, then blog about it when I finish using it. Then you can visit it at my blog any time you miss it 😉

  186. Carolyn says:

I would make a strippy bag with your gorgeous fabric. I just so love the delicate colours which is exactly what I wear. Thank you for your giveaway.

  187. Catherine says:

Oh boy, this is the one fabric line that I REALLY wish I hadn’t missed out on. I got into designer fabric shortly after this fabric became basically unavailable (unless you have a lot more disposable income than me!). I am a beachy girl and I love that Heather’s mermaids are sweet without looking like they need to be used for a little girl.

What would I do with them? Probably fondle and drool a lot … maybe even carry them in my purse when I run errands so that I can show them off to the cashiers and other shoppers. I would definitely have to instagram a picture of me with them at the beach (too much???).

After all of that, I’d need to make the fabric into something special that would last awhile and give me the chance to enjoy them every day, so I think I would make a quilted pillow sham for our bed.

    Thank you for the chance!!!

  188. Enney Rush says:

i would fold and refold, leave them out on the table when crafty friends were visiting just to watch the envy run thought them.

but really i would stretch them out into some cushion for the reading corner, some bedding for a beloved and faithful rabbitly, a stylish set of strap covers on the car seats and some buttons to add to something special.

but there would be lots of fawning and envy first!!!! mwahh hahah

I am redecorating my kids room, it is an aquatic theme, I need to redo a lamp and I also thought it would be fun to make a sign that says SEA made out of fabric, plus I am making an Octopus stuffie (free pattern on Moda Bakeshop) as a door stopper. Is that enough projects, I hope I tickled your fancy and I would give all of the credit to you 🙂

  226. Stephanie says:

I think I would make a lovely pillow with them! how fancy!!

  227. Jo says:

They would possibly be made into boarders for pillowcases and a top sheet for my bed so I could keep them close and touch them daily well except when I change the sheets. Thanks for the chance I have loved these fabrics for a while but discovered them after they were out of print. Definitely time to reprint some Heather Ross

  228. I would use the strips to make fabric and sew it all up into a messenger bag for ME!

  229. I think I’d make a tote bag out of this fabric for my grand daughter..she loves marine life and I see a jelly fish and a mermaid and little dolphins and some correl…and I could just add solids to match and get her a pair of orange zorries and an orange/fish themed towel. She’d be set for the beach and think of me cause I can’t go! Thanks for the drawing!

Since my husband or two sons probably wont find this fabric very appealing I will just have to make something for myself. I am picturing a new bag. Thank you!

  247. I love Heather Ross’ Mendocino line – and like many, don’t have enough (any) in my life. I have been sitting here for a couple of minutes (ok, for a couple of days) trying to think of the perfect project to make with these. The thing is, every time I look at this fabric, I smile. So I would take that love and sprinkle it throughout my sewing. I would sew a square into anything and everything I’m working on right now (because who only has one project going, right?!) From the new shorts for my daughter, a shirt for my son, a bag for myself, cushion cases, gifts, even the quilt I’m in the middle of that was passed down from my husband’s grandmother, 1 little square in each of these, giving me one more reason to smile. I’d be surrounded (in a wonderful way!!!) Thanks so much for the chance 🙂

  248. Oh! A doll quilt for my daughter, Lorelai! Her name is German– it is from a tale about a mermaid that had a voice so beautiful that she would sing sailors to their death on the rocky cliffs. We love to shower her with mermaid-themed things. She is only one now but I am sure she will appreciate it as she grows older.

  249. Fran says:

I would make a throw quilt for me – I had given up on thinking that I could ever own some of this beautiful ine (it was long out of print by the time I started sewing). Thanks so much for sharing a precious collection.

  255. Lindsay says:

My girls LOVE mermaids! I “won” a giveaway a few years ago, but my reply went to her spam box and she picked another winner so I only got a little piece of the octopus fabric that she had extra and no mermaids. 😦 I would love to make something for my oldest 2 girls because I plan on decorating their bedroom in mermaids. Thanks so much for the chance to win! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you pick me!! 🙂

  256. mary smith says:

First, I would roll around naked in them…then I would hide them so Lily and Mama Spark can’t get their hands on the innocent mermaids. Then I would lock them away in my fabric stash until they make enough friends that I can turn them all into a big cuddly quilt.

    • rebecca says:

Yeah, any time you roll around naked on fabric, it gets red flagged for other quilters! Lol I should add that to my etsy shop descriptions- “Item comes from a smoke free environment and has not been subjected to rigorous naked body rolling.”

  257. ooh so pretty! I would wrap them around the goldfish bowl so the fish would be happy and think they were in the sea! no… I would make a pretty cushion 😉

  258. I would make a cool wall hanging for my friend who works at an aquarium.

Love Heather Ross! I would use this fabric for a mini quilt or a quilt backing for a quilt I am making for a dear friend and her baby girl.

  261. Katie says:

I would love to make a cute throw pillow (That my dogs would not be allowed near…..for a day or two)

  262. Elizabeth says:

Well, as they are nautical in nature, I’d sew two together to make a nice long tube, add some elastic, and *bam* there’s an attractive headband befitting a beautiful lady pirate. As there are 9 strips, and headbands need 2 strips apiece, that means I can captain a crew of 3 other ladies, and one tiny Pirate-in-training. The headpieces would announce our majesty, keep our lovely locks in place and out of our face as we take over the world (fashion industry), and strike fear into the hearts of our enemies. (My enemies would probably invoke all the fashions I dislike, including UGG boots, fabric poncho shirts, and wearing white after Labor Day! But hey, everyone needs an archenemy) I eagerly await our festive shanty sing-a-long nights. Rather than the overdone “Arr!”, it’ll be “oor” for “orange”, the color of our useful and beautiful headgear.

Okay, so obviously not. I’d probably make two zipper pouches, using a patchwork style for the outside. I have a friend who is a fan of tiny pink octopi, so hers would definitely have that large fellow in the upper middle 🙂

Thanks for the offer (and the opportunity to be ridiculous)
    elizabeth.waligora at gmail.com

  263. Dawn P says:

I think a pretty little blush pink baby quilt would be perfect for them! Thanks!

  264. Tanya says:

I wiould use them in fun quilt for a child. Thanks for chance to win.

  265. Kellie S. says:

There is the great tutorial on how to cut wedges of fabric and form them on another piece of fabric into an initial (I have already helped a friend make one and I am dying to make one for myself). I would make a very large K ( for Kellie , of course) for the wall in my sewing room, That way I could look at these lovely fabrics and be inspired by them every single day.

  266. Four dogs and one quilter says:

Would add them to the Heather Ross fabric I have been hoarding to make a baby quilt.

  267. Melanie says:

amazing giveaway! really don’t know what I’d make…these are so precious it would have to be something great!

  268. Valerie says:

There should be enough there to make a gorgeous blushy bag just for me (can’t help but be selfish where Mendocino is involved!) plus enough scraps to add to my HR hoard!

  269. snips says:

Who is this Heather Ross person??
*ducks under table to avoid flying projectiles, and possibly flaming mermaids*
    Just Kidding!
I’m seeing the start of an epic log cabin quilt with three inch blocks of Mendocino at the center of each block!
Thanks for the chance! And i’m now following on bloglovin in hopes that it’s always this silly around here!

i would love to use these for a quilt with some other fabric

  271. jacqueline says:

wow! I never saw this print before! I would use it for a baby quilt for my soon to be newborn. his/her new room will be in a fish theme, so these fabrics would be great!!!!!

  272. Jamie Lew says:

These are literally my favorite fabric’s of all. I own a very small amount of it that I haven’t been able to make myself cut because I am saving it for the “perfect” project. I do think if I win I would mix this in with what I have to create a quilt. I definitely want to make something with it that I can keep.
    Thanks For The Chance!!

  273. Annette H says:

I would make a sweet little wall hanging for my daughter’s room. She loves mermaids and all things related to the ocean. We’re landlocked, but she’s three and convinced that we’re going to spend the summer by the sea! Oh boy! I’m going to have to make an extra effort to make sure we get to the beach this summer! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  274. Christine says:

What lovely fabric. I would make a table topper for my patio set.

  275. kathy h says:

I would make some placemats for a housewarming present for my daughter whose favorite color is orange.

  276. Ruth says:

I have this EPIC pillow design that’s been rolling around in my head for a few months, and I’m looking for the perfect fabric for it. This would be it!

  277. MC says:

My mom is a big fan of lighthouses and has been hinting at a lighthouse quilt. These would go perfectly with the marine theme 🙂

  278. Joyce Mosby says:

orange is such a happy color. I would make a small strip quilt.

  279. Dawn says:

Oh, I LOVE the two prints that almost look like damasks – but with octopi in them! So adorable! This screams “beach tote bag” to me… with a white mesh bottom to let out all the sand, and a set of side pockets for water bottles…

  280. lynaeve says:

I haven’t gotten to see my daughter in almost a year. She is coming to visit me this summer. i will be making her a quilt, and these would be perfect in it! thanks for the chance!

  281. The Mrs. says:

I’ve got three baby quilts to make this summer. These prints would be adorable in one of them!

  282. Katie says:

First, I would hoard them for awhile and admire them. Then, I would make something for MYSELF! Thanks!!

  283. Andrea B says:

Hi! I’d add these to my (quite small) blush collection of Medocino to make a quilt for myself. Made so much for others lately, I think it’s time I make one for myself!

  284. Helen says:

I agree, they are divine! I would use them in a scrappy quilt that I am queen bee for this month, they are perfect! Thank you

  285. charlotte says:

I am always wanting some Heather Ross. I missed all of this the first time. I would mix it with some solids and maybe some other small prints and make a quilt for me. I would love a Heather Ross quilt at my house. I can always leave it to my kids when I am gone.

  286. the sewing dork says:

I would layer these horizontally and make a lined, quilted book bag so I could admire all the fabrics at once. I would make a long messenger style strap. I’d fill it with my favorite few books read this year, then take it over ot my mother who cannot get out much, loves to read, and has limited mobility in her upper body so the messenger strap would fit her comfortably. 🙂

  287. Wens says:

Ooh Heather Ross. Lovely!! I’d make cushions for my best friends sweet little girl. Who can resist a mermaid? Thanks for the chance 🙂

  288. Leigh Morgan says:

I am making quilted V shaped pillows for my daughters who have both left home and moved to London away from their home by the sea. They are sort of memory/story patchworks of things that make them the way they are. Admittedly , the coast where we live is a bit wild ,but there is the occasional sunny day when mermaids might play

  289. Sasha says:

Easy peasy! Firstly I would continue fawning over the pictures you’ve posted. Then after arriving I would stroke it whilst talking to it. i would iron it neatly (because i do like my fabric to be looked after). I would then hoard them for a little bit whilst i tried to add to them with maybe a few more scraps and some essex linen in complementary colours. Then finally I would start on a quilt that was only for me. My children have plenty, but i’ve not made one for me or DH yet. I started quilting after the Mendocino rush and not managed to get hold of any yet, but i have my fingers crossed!

  290. Tau says:

I would like to make quilt-placemates with them. Perfect for when we’re eating fish 😉

    tau(underscore)be(at)yahoo(dot)com

  291. Brittney G. says:

The colors are so delicate – I would have to make something delicate too, perhaps an elegant clutch or a summery wall hanging?

  292. Pam C says:

These are so pretty. I have a little ballerina who love sea life and mermaids. I would love to use this to make her a bag to carry her ballet slippers in.

  294. Carolyn says:

I’m about to start taking my baby girl to the pool for swim lessons so I’d make a bag for all her swim gear 🙂

  295. Vicki H says:

I’d like to make a tote bag or maybe a zipper pouch.

  296. chibidani says:

I would make a wall hanging for my girls’ room. I would use the fabrics to make ocean shapes, or maybe a big mermaid, and use the strips to make her tail. I like that idea! I may just have to make it one day anyway.

  297. alyssa says:

That would make a cute summer skirt trim.

  298. Bethany says:

a pillow it would make a great pillow. Maybe in strips with a plain colored ruffle…??

  299. Amelia says:

I’d mix them up with some solids to make a strip quilt for a sweet baby girl making an appearance sometime this summer! Maybe I’ll make a cute mermaid mobile to go with it . . .

  300. Mandi says:

    a beach bag!

  302. Jill says:

My kiddo is into “sea creatures” right now, and like to put things in bags and carry them around, so I think I’d make a patchwork tote of some sort.

  303. Peggy D'Eath says:

I have two little girls (one and four) who need swingy layered mermaid skirts. Pretty sure I could eke out one for each! The older one is trying to teach the younger one to twirl!

  304. Julie says:

I would make a reading pillow for a friend who quilts and who would truly appreciate this fabric. Thanks for the chance!

  305. elflyn says:

I would make little quilts for the faeries who live in my garden. Faeries and mermaids are cousins you know, but they can only visit each other on a blue moon because that is the one night mermaids grow legs. Faeries can’t swim on account of their wings so they don’t go to the sea on other nights. On the night of a blue moon though the faeries and their cousins the mermaids have a beach party and dance around a fire, until dawn. When I make them little quilts though the faeries would not be so sad about only seeing their cousins the mermaids once in a blue moon because they would be reminded of them each night as they went to sleep.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  306. Pillow. Thank you for doing a giveaway.

  307. Yisrayah says:

Im not to sure yet but a bag came to my mind,or pillows.

  308. Leanne says:

I caught my breath when I saw this on the SMS giveaway. The Heather Ross Mendocino fabric line is almost an urban legend in New Zealand, with many whispers concerning its existence, but very few have actually seen it. I wonder if it would gain traction if I pieced it together and started a petition for it to become our new national flag, because you know, sewing is our national past-time, up there with being extras on The Hobbit. And these fabrics really would be my preciousss. Thanks for the chance to win them.

  309. My granddaughter is 3 months old I would love to make her a dress out of the strips! Lovely giveaway! Thank you!

  310. Jenny says:

Oh, gosh. I want these fabrics BAD. I’ve never had any of them — and only one small scrap of Mendocino at all — but how to tickle your fancy at 1:00 am my time? My brain may not be able to work that hard. This is going to be tough. How about this: I think I would make one entire quilt (at least baby size) out of the nine strips? Ok, wait, I’ve got to walk this back just a bit: If you pick me, could I use a few different solids and maybe could I make it wall size so I could keep it (on account I have three boys)? I really want to keep it because I love these fabrics so much (and have never had any except one small scrap of yellow sisters (did I already mention that?)).

Oh, poop on Elizabeth. She is funny and did verily tickle my fancy at 1:06 am (my time), but zip pouches? Really? They will get WORN OUT no matter if you hardly even use them. That’s no way to treat Heather Ross.

  311. Jodi Robertson says:

Such beautiful fabrics. I would have to take some small pieces from each strip to put in the orange/yellow tone part of my rainbow eye spy quilt that I am collecting for for my daughter. The rest of the strips would make a lovely strip work cushion to go with her eye spy quilt (she may get the cushion long before the eye spy quilt at the rate I am collecting eye spy squares) perhaps I can give the eye spy quilt to a grand child – my daughter is 2 1/2 do you think that would give me enough time ? 🙂
Thank you for generously sharing from your stash. I hope you enjoyed SMSGD.

  312. I think I’ll make I quilt for my little one to play on

  315. Susan says:

Wow! HR is the best and I have been saving up bits and pieces for years. Then for the past fifteen months I have been saying I was doing to finally start my HR quilt. If I was lucky enough to win I would pull my finger out and just do it rather than talking about it. I think the fear of cutting and getting it all wrong is what is holding me back right now. Thank you for the chance to win!

  316. tusen says:

There’s a sweet (but also full of mischief) little girl who happens to be my friends’ daughter and who has not received a quilt from me yet. I think these fabrics would be perfect for a quilt for her.

  330. I would make a small baby quilt with the precious stash of my own mixed with these treasures.

  331. rhondalaws says:

I would probably leave them that width and change only the length and then sew a solid in between and to the ends so as to make a lap sized quilt. They would certainly shine!!

  332. Keri S says:

Awesome fabric. What shall I make…hmmm…well, when my boys see the sea theme they will want something for their sea creatures, I’m sure…but I am thinking bright and cheery curtains (café style) in my kitchen for summer! I think it would be lovely!! What do you think? kerihag at yahoo dot com

  350. Michelle says:

I see these in a pillow or a tote.

  351. tammyhappyis says:

The obvious choice would be a strip quilt, but I am wondering if once sewn together, would I have enough to make myself a Summer top? it would look amazing! maybe a pendrell or just a collette sorbetto lined with a very thin cotton to seal in the raw edges? Otherwise I would use them to make Noodleheads new bag pattern
