I work in a boring, gray office that has zero stimulation, so I decided to get festive! One of my coworkers got a new chair mat and was going to throw out the tall box it came in. I immediately swooped in & took the box back to my office to create my fireplace. I found a monitor box to create the surround & covered both boxes in print outs of a brick wall. Then, I used the lid from a box of copy paper to make the mantel. After adding a fireplace screensaver and various Christmas-y accoutrements across the top, my ugly office is party central! I should bring marshmallows! Lol
Totally, totally AWESOME!!!
that is TOTALLY,TOTALLY, TOTALLY A WONDERFUL IDEA, love it, iust love it!!!!
Besides being cuter than cute, this idea is a brilliant use of materials and space – great decorating!!

Super cool! Love it 🙂
That is so cool, great idea to go from drab to fab.
Hey – I’m back! I made my own computer fireplace. Scroll all the way down on this post http://thethreegerbers.blogspot.ch/2014/11/use-your-words-school-of-life.html to see a picture of it! Thanks for the inspiration!
Where did you get the paper?
I printed it on the Xerox. But other people have commented that there’s similar paper at Michaels.
Yemeira, I googled for red brick wallpaper and printed it onto self-adhesive label paper.
This is totes fantastic
Thank you!! 🙂
Totally cute! But that picture on the mantle at first glance I thought it was a picture of me and my mother 30 years ago. Lol
Goodness, I wonder where I’m going to find paper w/ a faux brick print on it!
I found an image of bricks online & printed it on the copier!
I found a roll at Michaels craft store.
Your IT department needs a revamp. The computer still runs Windows XP. That is still not even supported by Microsoft anymore. Hasn’t been for more than a year now.
Check the date on the post- it’s from Dec 9, 2011. Our IT dept is just fine…
Really cute, very clever, where did you find fire place on computer? Looks really neat.
I searched google for a fireplace image big enough for my screen & set it as the desktop.
You are very creative! Looks awesome.
Thank you!
OMG, this is the coolest!
Thanks!
Where can I find the brick looking paper:-)
I used google images & found large photos of brick & stone. Then I printed it out on the xerox.
You might find the brick print at a craft store like for scrapbooking.
I’ll expect to see this on Thanksgiving (:
This is super adorable.
I am totally going to do this! I have two monitors, so hopefully, it will still look cute.
Where can I buy one
CANNOT WAIT to do this to my desk!
Too funny!
Brilliant!

how do I get the brick pattern? is there a website?
I had done something similar a few years back, and used this screensaver- http://www.geliosoft.com/fireplace-screensaver/index.html
It’s about as realistic a fireplace as I could find for the computer- complete with sounds.
